The Great Recession affected Canada pretty hard, my family lived in Canada. The Great Recession began in December 2007. This recession was so long that it ended in June 2009, and ended up as the longest recession since WW2. When the recession began, the unemployment rate was around 5%, and rose to almost 10% by the time the recession was over.

This was a life changing occurrence because it gave me a new family at a young age, so I gained stepsiblings and this mother figure.
