    The Boston Tea Party
    342 chests of tea were thrown overboard on three different ships. This was lead by Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty. This event lead to the Coercive Acts in 1774.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    Between the dates June 11th and june 28th of 1776, Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence. This document was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776, also known as indepndence day. This is important because this document released he United States from England's control.
  • Eli Whitney and the Cotton Gin

    Eli Whitney and the Cotton Gin
    Eli Whitney invented a machine to clean cotton in 1793. This machine would clean 50 pounds of cotton a day. This invention put the South in for an extremely different course of economic development. (McDougall Littell, 373)
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was when president Jefferson made an offer to France to buy New Orleans to keep tnhe port open. In return to this, France offered Jefferson the entire Louisiana Territory, which doubled the size of the colonies.   • Lewis and Clark Journey West

    Lewis and Clark Journey West
    The Lewis and Clark expedition was set up by Thomas Jefferson to expore the Louisiana Territory. Captain Meriwether Lewis asked William Clark, a mapmaker, to accompany him on his expedition. They owed much of their expedition to the help of Native Americans.. The major impacts form this expedition is that the first accurate map was made and many plant and animal species were discovered.   • Trail of Tears

    Trail of Tears
    The Trail of Tears is named after the harsh journey the Cherokee went through to get to the indian Territory. In 1832, the Cherokees appealed to the Supreme Court . This was to protect their land from being seized by Goergia. In 1838, General Winfield forced 16,000 Cherokees into camps.
  • The Alamo

    The Alamo
    On this day, Santa Anna's troops had bordered San Antonio. One day later they began their seige towards the Alamo.. Two days later a message was sent saying, "The enemy has demended surrender." After thirteen days of battle, all seven texans were dead and the war was over.

    Texas Revolution
    Juan Seguin wanted Texas to stay independent from Mexico other than become a part of the United States. The Texans wanted to become part of the United States. This led up to the Texas Government to join the United States. (McDougall Littell, 429-430)
  • Mexican American War

    Mexican American War
    On this date, a Mexican unit crossed the Rio Grance in order to ambush an American patrol. A message was sen to congress saying that Mexico had crossed territory and two days later, they declared war. For the United States, this victory had meant fulfillment of destiny and the expansion from the Pacific to the Atlantic. (McDougall Littell, 434-437)
  • The Donner Party

    The Donner Party
    On this date, eight families gathered to find a better life among the Rockies. Before leaving, James Reed had heard of a newly discovered route through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This short-cut cut out almost 300 miles of their journey. By January 15 of the next year, nobody had found the othe side of the mountains and only had hides to live off of.     California Gold Rush
    James Marshall found gold in a nearby American River. This discovery led to a giant migration to California. The impact of this enabled California to apply for statehood.(McDougall Littell, 439)

    In Charleston, South Carolina, cannons were shooting over the harbor. The country's secession crisis led to a full on shooting war. This day marks te beginning of the American Civil War between the north and the south.

    On this date, Abraham Lincoln declared the freedom of slaves in the states of rebellion. Later on, this soon applied to all states.

    The Supreme Case: Brown v The Board of Education
    When the supreme cout claimed that "seprarate but equal" schools were unconstitutional. Brown made great strides towards the equality of schools and now schooling is one of the most important function in the United States. This event is important because it eliminated school segregation.

    Armsrtong, Aldrin, and Collins left earth in a rocket, Apollo 11, on a venture to the moon. This resulted with the first men on the moon, Also making history
  • Elvis Presley's Death

    Elvis was 42 when he died of cardiac arrhythmia. After his death was revealed, Vermon Presley, his father, holds a complete autopsy report until 2027. This year was chosen since it will mark 50 years since his death.Elvis's death is important because it marks rock and roll's first big star.

    On September 11th, 2001, the Twin Towers in New York City were attacked by airiners owned by the Islamic Extremist group. The group sent 4 planes, but one of the planes crashed into the pentagon while another crashed in a feild in Pennsylvania.
