The American statesman John Jay went to England to negotiate disagreements between the two governments. The Treaty eliminated British control of western post. US got a limited right to trade in the West Indies. The US also had to pay for damages to British ships.

The US gained the Hawaii and its islands and used them for their sugar and built naval bases on the islands. The territory is still in U.S. possession.

Only the Philipines are not under U.S control anymore.
