    A young French farm girl Joan heard voices coming from God that told her to liberate France from England. By the early 1400s she claimed the entire French territory and convinced the French leaders that she was inspired by God to lead the French men into battle. She forced the British retreat from Orleans, but then captured by the French, tried by the British, and burned at the stake by the French.
