    The Dhow was a sailing vessel usually used for trade and fishing. It was very reliable, sturdy, and could go long distances. These sailing vessels were used throughout Indian ocean carrying heavy items from port to port. The exact origins of the Dhow are unknown but most historians believe the Dhow was created in India as early as 600 B.C. These Dhows were heavily used during the Indian Ocean trade time.
