Louis accepted the new Constitution and a new goverment was voted. It only lasted one year due to the opposition of the radical revolutionaries. At the same time Austria and Prussia declared the war to France and in august 1792 the royal family was taken prisoner.

A new goverment was elected in which every men could vote. The new goverment was more radical and was called National Convention. This Convention aboliched the monarchy and became a republic.
The king and his hife were executed for treason and as a result Britain and Dutch Republic joined Austria and Prussia against France in the First Coalition.
In this times, there were two types of revolutionaries: Girondins and Jacobins. -
The war between France and the countryes of the First Coalition started. As a result the Jacobins took the power and Robespierre became a dictator. His ruling was known as Reign of Terror. He executed more than 50.000 people by guillotine.

Afer several victorius against Austria and Britain, he was received like a hero in Paris. In this times many people were dissatisfied with the Directory and as a result he and two directors overthrew the goverment and made a coup d´etat. Then, Napoleon proclaimed himself "First Consul".
