Mohandas Karmchand Gandhi was born 152 years ago in Porbandar India.

At the young age of 13 Gandhi was married to his wife Kasturbai "Kasturba" Mohandas. After they were married her name changed to kasturbai Gandhi, she was an activist.

As opposed to his customs, Gandhi went to study abroad. At 19 he made it into the university College in London, to study law. At this school he was not treated well, because he was Indian.

After going to law school for about three years, he became a lawyer. After he got the title of “Supreme court lawyer” He then began to build his practice even more.

Gandhi declares that he would rather go to jail, or even die before following those racist laws. Also in that same year, he gave aid to the Zulu revolt.

Gandhi was elected to be the leader of the new political party called the Indian National Congress. It was founded in Gokuldas Tejpal Sanskrit College, with 72 delegates.

Gandhi encouraged people to spin their own cotton and boycott Brish goods, courts, and government. In doing this he practically put him self in jail. He was in jail from 1922 to 1924.

This victory came in 1947, in this the Indians gained independence. This created a split between two countries, Indian and Pakistan.

While on his way to a prayer in Delhi, Gandhi was assisted by a Hindu who had been in raged by Gandhi’s efforts to make peace with the Muslims, and the Hindus. His murderer was hung for his action on 15 November 1949.

Nearly 50 years after his assignation, he was remembered, by his ashes being put in the river in the same month he was murdered. This act was done by his great grand son, Tuscarora Gandhi.
