Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869. He was born in Porbandar which is near Bombay. -
When Gandhi was unsuccessful he went to South Africa. When he was there he was the first person to be called colored. He so built a large practice. After doing this Gandhi soon noticed how terrible the Indian labors who came from to India to South Africa were treated. -
In 1894 he had found out that the Natal Indian congress was in trouble because of the Indian rights. When he found this out instead of going with it he stated true to the British empire. -
When the Boer war started Gandhi created an ambulance corps and helped out in South Africa. In World War one he began an ambulance corps but this time it was for the British. After this he went him in 1914 -
Gandhi started one of his peaceful protest. He basically just said that he would rather got to jail or even die before he would ever listen to the anti-Asian law. Lots of other Indians joined him in this protest. He then went to jail twice. -
Gandhi became the leader of a Indian National Congress political party. In 1920 he created the noncooperation campaign. He did this against British. The campaign told Indians to spin their won Cotten and to boycott British goods,courts, and governments. This all did lead to Gandhi going to prison for 2 more years -
In the salt tax march Gandhi lead Indians on a 200 mile march. This march lead to the sea to collect the salt on there own. After this he went to jail again. -
Gandhi retired from the head of the party to just the leader. He believes that as long as everyone was under the British empire then there would be no real freedom. -
Gandhi finally had won independence in 1947. They finally spilt into 2 countries one is India and the other is Pakistan. Now there are Hindu-Muslim riots. -
On Gandhis way to prayer in Delhi he was killed. He was killed by a Hindu who was upset by Gandhis effort to reconcile Hindus and Muslims. 50 years later they spread his ashes in Ganges river.
