G324 Planning Timeline

  • Period: to

    Research Tasks

Within this time I completed my research tasks that are now on my blog. These included nine frame analysis, digipak analysis, advert analysis, music video narrative analysis, shot count task and more. I am adding these events late to my Timetoast as I have only start the Timetoast from my planning tasks to help me be more organised in my work.
  • Extra Tasks

Over the weekend I decided to catch up on some of my reseach tasks such as the music video analysis. I managed to finish this off so I had no more tasks to complete before moving on to the Planning tasks, as this would make me behind and unorganised. I also took this time to add extra tasks on my blog that I did out of free choice such as inspirational music videos and a post about creative shots and edits that I found interesting and that maybe I could apply to my own music video later on.
  • Lyrics Breakdown

Today I started to analyse and wrote down the times of the lyrics to the song I am using. I did not finish this in the lesson but I plan to finish it at home tonight and have it on my blog by tomorrow's media lesson.
  • Permission Request

Today I emailed and tweeted the record company that own the copyright the song that I want to use in my music video. I made a post on my blog showing evidence that I had sent this permission request.
  • Finished Lyrics Breakdown and Started Initial Ideas using Lino.com

Today I finished off and posted the lyrics breakdown task onto my blog and started noting down initial ideas for my video on a website called lino.com. I found this website very useful as it was set out as a corkboard with sticky notes design which made the ideas easy to read and jot down. I finished this off today and embedded the lino onto my blog.
  • Started on Audience Research Questions

Today I made notes on some question ideas to ask my target audience. I then saved it as a word document. I was going to rent out my camcorder so that I could start filming people asking them these questions over the weekend but I decided to start this task tomorrow instead and focus on my other subjects as I realised I was ahead of my media portfolio anyway.
  • Posted Audience Research Questions

I made a post on my blog with the questions I was going to ask my target audience. I then printed this off during my free period in college.
  • Started and finished Treatment Sheet and Risk Assessment

Today I had a free period at college so I thought I'd start thinking ahead with my media coursework. I knew I was planning on doing interviews for my audience research later on in the media lesson so I thought I'd take this oppurtunity to do the treatment sheet. I also did my Risk Assessment sheet in this time.
  • Rented Out Camcorder

Today I rented out a camcorder from the college so that I could film some of my audience research. I have decided to try and film interviews out of college rather than in as it makes my work look more professional and not like everybody elses. I managed to interview 7 people altogether today. I plan to return the camcorder tomorrow and put my footage onto the computer. If i do not manage to finish editing the audience research video I will make sure I finish it by Wednesday.
  • Audience Profile

When I got home I decided to do some work on my audience profile. I did not think I would finish this as I was making it on a Prezi to vary the format of my work but I did and managed to embed this onto my blog also.
  • Put together audience research video

Today I filmed a few extra interviews with people in my media class before putting the footage onto my computer and editing the audience research video in iMovie. The process took quite a while as cropping the videos was time consuming but by the end of the lesson I had uploading it to YouTube and embedded the video onto my blog. The next step I plan to do with my research is write a summary sheet of the data I collected with my questionnaire.
  • Call Sheets and new Treatment Sheet

Yesterday I was told my my media teacher that if I used a different format for my treatment sheet it may look more professional and gain extra marks so I took my time today to make a new one and to add extra detail. I missed out some points from the original one such as costume and make up as I have decided to include this is a separate treatment sheet which I will do sometimes soon. I also completed my 3 call sheets and uploaded them to my blog.
  • Second Treatment Sheet

When I got home I decided to get the second treatment sheet out of the way which was more about the costumes and make-up compared to the first treatment sheet. I managed to finish this, but it is not yet on my blog as I need to put my record label logo on the front cover of both treatment sheets.
  • Vintage Inspired Make Up and October Plans

Today I searched for a vintage inspired make up tutorial on youtube to try and get more ideas for make up and how I want my actress to look. I also edited a calendar of the october month to show my plans for the coming month to help keep me organised.
  • New treatment sheets and record labels

Today I finished off my new treatment sheets and added my new record label onto the front covers so it made it look more professional. I also made a powerpoint to show the progress of making my record label - my original ideas, and how I made my logo.
  • Mood Board and colected camera from college

As I have finished all the main tasks to be completed I decided to expand on some of the extra tasks that would help me gain a grade A by doing a mood board. I also collected a camera at the end of the day so I could do some of my test footage either tonight or tomorrow in the day with my actor and actress.
  • Started storyboard

Today I finished most of my tasks so I started drawing and planning my storyboard, this was quite hard as the storyboard is guaranteed to change its structure and shots but I started off with what I felt was the closest to the final video outcome.
  • Test shootage and recce shots with actor and actress

After college today I met up with my actor and actress as it was a half day. WE had a meeting and discussed the context of the song and shared ideas about the final video, then we went over to the park to do some test shots, footage and recce shots. I will have a go at editing this footage in tomorrow's lesson.
  • Continued Storyboard

Today my media teacher was absent so I decided to just continue making my storyboard and jotting down ideas.
  • Digipak Photoshop experimentation

Today we did a Photoshop tutorial for practice on our future digipak and posters to accompany our videos. I did find this quite hard as I don't really know how to use Photoshop but one of my friends does Graphic Design so I may get him to teach me and therefore produce a better digipak when the time comes to make it.
  • First Day Filming

Today me and Ramsay went to my college to do some filming with the projector. Overall it was quite successful and I made sure I did each shot a few times just in case anything went wrong in the others and I had other footage to fall back on.
  • Filming with Grace at lunch

Today I did the same filming on the projector as Ramsay but with Grace during lunchtime at college. We didn't have very long after everything was set up etc but I think I got most footage covered.
  • Day filming in Middlesbrough with Ramsay

Today I took the afternoon off college in order to go do some filming in Middlesbrough as it was the only availible day we could. I felt this was very successful, I got some good shots and ideas while we were out and we managed to film at the Meme art exhibition.
  • Shooting Schedule

Today I finished off my shooting schedule and posted to my blog. This shooting schedule is likely to change but hopefully not too much.
  • Storyboard

Even though my storyboard isn't quite finished I have still took photos of it and posted this to my blog as evidence I have done it while my blog is reviewed over the half term holiday. I do not have many shots to add to it and will make my anamatic when I get back to college.
  • Filming at Seaton

Today we did some more filming, with both actors, down at Seaton Carew beach. This was quite successful although when looking at some of the shots on the computer afterwards some of them were quite wobbly due to taking them haldheld, but they were okay. If I have time I may redo these shots although the location is quite hard to get to.
  • Return to college

Today we returned to college and I started editing my music video with the footage I have. I think I have enough footage but am concerned about th variety of shots, so tomorrow I am planning to do one last filming shoot before taking the camera down to London to do some establishing shots.
  • Filming before I go away

Today we did a last shoot before I go away. This will probably be the last time I film with my actors as this is extra work that is already over the deadline. Overall I think doing this helped. We got a more variety of shots that will make the narrative flow better and seem more clear to the audience.
  • Returned to college and strted editing

When I got back to college I carried on with my editing even though I had already started this before I went. I didn't want to be behind on deadlines and had already missed a rough cut deadline so I made sure I spent a lot of time on it so I was on track.
  • Rough Cut 1

Today I submitted my first rough cut on my blog which had a lot of black gaps in it where I had yet to fit editing in, but then again it was my first rough cut so it didn't matter too much. I continued to edit the video after submitting this.
  • Rough Cut 2

After editing the video nearly all day at college I made a lot of progress and thought I was ready to submit my second rough cut, which was deadlined for Friday's lesson. There is a huge difference between the two rough cuts and you can see that I will be finished editing it by the final cut deadline.
  • Photoshoot

Today was a deadline for taking photos for our digipaks, so in today's lesson I had a break from editing the video and spent the lesson in the photography studio where my friend Jenn (who takes photography) and I took photos for my digipak, advert and poster. Overall these photos were successful and I don't think I'll need to retake these. I also stayed back today for WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY which was an afternoon where we were free to stay back and edit our footage if we wished, so I took this...
  • Photoshoot continued

...oppurtunity to have a discussion with Sally about my video and possible bits that could be refilmed. After taking this into consideration I decided to loan out a camera and refilm sometime this week (although make sure it was done by Friday as this was the last day we are allowed to film anything)
  • Refilm dates

After discussing possible reshoot dates with my actor the only day he is availible to do some more filming is Friday, so I have organised this with him to do some filming on friday night which can then be edited in Monday's lesson. In today's lesson, I started drafting out my digipak design and carried on editing my footage, trying to reorganise the ending parts and filling in black gaps where there was no footage.
  • Extra posts

Today i tried to add some extra posts onto my blog for extra detail - such as torch effect and explaining why I used it, some November and December calendar date plans to help me be more organised and an explanation to the old film effect I plan to use in my video.
  • Carrying on editing

My editing for my video is going well - I have now submitted two rough cuts and am nearly finished all my filming.
  • Draft designs

Today i drew out some of my draft advert and digipak designs to help me when I come down to finally do these on photoshop. Having drafts will give me more guidelines as to what I am doing at the time. I drew these out of paper and scanned them in on the printer.
  • Third rough cut submitted and discussion for band names

Today i submitted my third rough cut which still has gaps in but is nearly finished - I just need to add my extra footage in for it to be nearly complete. I also had a discussion with Beth, Carl and Sally over potential band names for my coursework to make it more creative and personal.
  • Filming shoot

Tonight we did some last bits of filming for the last scene in the video. These were all successful pieces of footage and I also took this oppurtunity to take some extra photos for the photoshoot with my actor in the pictures too.
  • First submission of complete video

I have just uploaded my first version of the video where there is no gaps and every part of the video has footage in. Howver this is still not the final product, I will need to tweak some parts of the video where some of the footage is shaky and doesn't flow right.
