  • May 5, 1789 meeting with the Estates-General

    They didn't know who to give the vote to, because if they gave the vote by head, the third party would win, and they didn't like that idea.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    The third estate went to meet in their hall, but found the doors to be locked. They then went to a tennis court and made an oath never to separate unless a constitution was written.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    A mob approached a prison to gather guns and ammunition, they released the prisoners that were there, and captured the prison.

    Declaration of the Rights of Man

    These articles showed that every man in the universe, should be granted rights.
  • Women's March on Versailles

    Women gathered to riot about the high price of bread and other goods.
  • Execution of King Louis XVI

    "Between 10 and 11 o'clock in the morning, the unfortunate Louis XVI, suffered decapitation in the Square of the Revolution, formerly called Place Louis XV."

    Reign of Terror

    Pretty much there was no formal government. This was also a big time for public executions and such.
  • Maximilien Robespierre's execution

    "July 28–Robespierre and 21 others were guillotined without a trial in the Place de la Revolution. During the next few days, another 82 Robespierre followers were executed."
  • Napoleonic Code is established

    The Napoleonic Code is pretty much just just some laws that gave the men of France power and modernized France.
  • Napoleon Crowns himself emperor

    Napoleon crowned himself emperor of France in notre Dame de Paris.

    Peninsular War

    The Peninsular war spanned 6 years and was a, "military conflict fought in the Iberian Peninsula by Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom against the invading and occupying forces of the First French Empire during the Napoleonic Wars." The British ended up winning.
  • Napoleon and his men march on Russia

    Napoleon tried to get Tsar Alexander to stop trading goods with Britain, forcing the British to sue for peace. The French lost, but it wasn't for poor military performance, it was really just because of climate and unfamiliar grounds.
  • Napoleon is exiled to Elba

    After the loss in Russia, Napoleon was forced to live in Elba. The people of France humored Napoleon further by making him Emperor of Elba.
  • Napoleon dies

    Napoleon died at the age of 51, most likely due to stomach cancer. He was in the British owned island, Saint Helena.
