Louis XVI decided to rice taxes of the aristrocrats but the aristrocrats blocked his plans. In desperation, Louis XVI decided to call a meeting with the General Estates. In the time of that meeting the General Estates last meeting was 170y prior.

The third state and some clergy joined in a meeting hall, but the door was locked. In suspicion of a plot, they ran to a nearby tennis court and there they swore the Tennis Court Oath, vowing (swore) to stay put until they had created a constitution that placed power on the people. This inspired a wide variety of revolutionary activities months afterwards.

About 600 angry Parisians successfully attacked and took control over the Bastille. This paired with the recent Tennis Court Oath brought the French people to take up to arms against the nobility.

The royal family unsuccessfully atempted to leave paris in a bad moment with an even worse execution as they tried to scape carrying all their servants and most of their possessions. They where stoped in Verennes and brought back to Paris.

The convention puts Louis XVI on trial for treason, and unanimously pronounce him gilty. As the revolution grew in France the elite of other kingdoms and nations watched with fear while preparing to stop homegrown revolution inspired by the French.
