The Reign of Terror lasted from Sep 5th, 1793 to Jul 28th, 1794. This Reign was known as a period of violence during the Revolution. Which was incited by the conflict between two rival politicians, the Girondins, and the Jacobins. Many people were publically executed by guillotine.

On November 9-10, 1799, Napoleon had managed to overthrow France's directory government. He had done this by forming an alliance with multiple prominent political figures. His newfound power was confirmed by the new Constitution of 1799.
