    This event had a meeting of representatives from each of the Estates. Since the people of the 3rd Estate didn't get anything done from this system, this led to the 3rd Estate breaking away from the system.

    Execution of King Louis XVI
    King Louis XVI was murdered by guillotine in Place de la Revolution located in Paris. He was executed after months of torture. The King was convicted for treason and died claiming his innocence. The death of King Louis XVI aided in Napoleon gaining power.

    The Reign of Terror was a timespan during the French Revolution when Maximilien Robespierre led and encouraged violence and the execution of 16-thousand people. It ended with Robespierre and many of his followers being beheaded.
  • Maximilien Robespierre's Execution

    Maximilien Robespierre's Execution
    Robespierre, who took the leading role in the executions and violence during the Reign of Terror, was arrested at Hôtel de Ville in Paris. He was executed in the same location as King Louis XVI. Shortly thereafter, the Committee of Public Safety lost its authority and led to the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte.

    The Napoleonic Code was a new set of laws covering all France territories. It gave men more rights and deprived women of all individual rights. It additionally reintroduced colonial slavery.

    Napoleon Crowns Himself Emperor
    Napoleon first became self-proclaimed emperor on May 18, 1804. The official ceremony was held in December. Instead of letting Pope Pius VII crown him, Napoleon crowned himself emperor and crowned Josephine Empress. This led to Napoleon gaining extreme power over France and eventually Italy.

    A war of which most of Europe fought against France who was invading their land. Aided the downfall of Napoleon.

    Napoleon and his men march on Russia
    After conquering most of Europe, Napoleon set his sights on Russia after many skirmishes. The Russians pulled back and abandoned nearly every battle location in order to deprive Napoleon's army of food. After environmental issues, such as extreme temperatures and lack of food, Napoleon's army began to retreat. This gave Prussia, Austria, and Sweden the confidence to bring up arms with Great Britain and Russia to try and defeat Napoleon once again.

    Napoleon is exiled to Elba
    After Napoleon's army gives up, he abdicates his throne and was sent to Elba for exile. However, he escapes and goes to Paris, where he temporarily gains supporters and engages in the Battle of Waterloo where he was defeated for the last time.

    After the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon is exiled yet again, but now to the location of Saint Helena, where he stayed at until death. His cause of death was stated as stomach cancer. However, some theorize he was poisoned.
