Napoleon, emporeor of France at the time, led his men to invade Russia. The prussian king had ceded almost half of his pre-war territories to Napoleon according to the second Treaty of Tilsit. The French failed to invade Russia and lost more than 300,000 men while Russia lost more than 200,000. -
Emperor Napoleon offered to step down in favor of his son after the loss at Waterloo. When his offer was rejected, Napolean gave up his throne and was exiled to the island of Elba located in the Mediterranian sea. -
After escaping Elba and returning to France for a short while, he was exiled again to the island of St. Helena from whence he didn't escape. He died at the age of 51 from what many theorize was caused by stomach cancer. His illness lasted about 2 months and he theorized early on that his illness would be the death of him.
