Even though I wasn't alive for this experience, this was the date of the first commercial radio broadcast on KDKA. This would later become a pivotal moment for me as radio was the first career path I chose. All through college I spent many days at 97.5 WQBE, a Charleston radio station and loved every second of it. I was an on-air personality and worked as a public relations representative for the station. Some of my best memories took place in that small room with a microphone. Image by me.

It may seem like a simple product, but much of my childhood revolved around the release of the Super Nintendo. My cousin, brother and I would bond over Super Mario Kart in front of the television after a long day spent outside playing. This game system was our way to cool down and enjoy the presence of each other. I can still remember us sitting in the cabin at my grandpa's farm playing games while we waited for dinner to be served. Image from Amazon.

I can still smell the freshly baked brownies coming out of this invention. The Hasbro Easy Bake Oven is where I first learned to "bake" for my family and friends. It was so important to me because as I watched my grandma make a homemade cake, I could pretend to do the same. It gave me, not only delicious desserts, but a sense of importance in comparison to the adults I was around. I felt grown-up and like I could conquer the world one Easy Bake pie at a time. Oh, the Motorola Razr. So many LOL's and OMW's were typed into this phone as I rode in the back of my mom's Camry. It was the first phone I could really call my own. Even though it was mostly used to call my mom to pick me up from soccer practice, it still provided me with a sense of assurance that help was never more than a phone call away. Image from Retromobe.

When the first iPhone began to circulate the world is when I realized how convenient it was to have for schooling. I started to see my phone as more than just a way to talk to my friends. The iPhone slowly worked its way into being a part of my education. Even to this day, it is a huge tool in helping me stay in touch with my professors and it keeps me up to date on all the latest assignments. Image from iGotOffer.

When an iPhone just wouldn't handle the workload, I was thankful for the MacBook Air. This computer was designed to be lighter weight and more portable and this student was glad to have it. It made going to the library and traveling back and forth from friend's houses easier. I was able to quickly stick it down in my backpack and keep it safe during the school day.
