    Visigoths invade Italy under Alaric. Alaric wanted land on which his people could settle in and in which the empire accepted. The authorities at Ravenna did not give him the land he asked for. The Romans paid him to go away, but he attacked Rome. When he did, he was able to set up a temporary emperor, Priscus Atallus. The authorities at Ravenna still refused his demands, so Alaric led his warriors against Rome again, for the third time.

    Capture of Carthage by the Vandals
    Peace was made between the Romans and the Vandal during 435. However, Gaiseric led his troops into Carthage with a surprise attack. Aspar returned to to Constantinople and could not get back in time to fight them off.Gaiseric's interest in Carthage led him to stay there until he invaded Rome.

    Western Rome falls to Germanic Tribes
    Huns threaten Rome. Both the Romans and Germans were scared of the Huns. They were like Indians to the Americans except fiercer. The Romans and Visigoths defeated Attila, the Hun leader. When the Huns left, it opened doors for other Germanic tribes: the Ostrogoths, the Fanks, and the Anglo-Saxons. It seemed that the walls were easy to penetrate after the Visigoths.

    After Gaiseric help aid Attila during the 450's. In 454, Emperor Valentinian murdered Aetius, after that, the Emperor was stabbed to death.This is were Gaiseric took advantage of the taking of Rome. He brought his fleet from Carthage to Rome. The new Emperor Maximus could not raise his army fast enough, so he made as many people flee as they could.

    Romulus Augustulus was the son of Orestes. Orestes believed that his son would be accepted by the Romans, but they did not take him with open arms. Gaiseric, was a clever and shrwed diplomat who also was a military leader. He led the Vandals to fight off the Roman Empire. He aided Attila the Hun.

    Emperor Leo wanted to end the Vandals for good but ended up bringing Rome into poverty. He spent and outrages amount of money on trying to fund the expeditions. Gaiseric and his raiders went too far by invading several areas of the Western Roman Empire. The commanders Leo had were not good, and was persuaded by his wife. The right people were not in command. Battles on land and sea where these commanders could not handle it. Gaiseric was just a great commander that tore their whole expedition ap
