About 4 months after I moved from Chicago to Winnipeg, I was watching Rocky on TV. I think it was the 25th anniversary of its release. I was sitting in my living room, motzei shabbos, and the phone rang. It was Rabbi Millen, my Sophmore Talmud teacher. He was just calling to see how I was doing and to check in. It is one of those moments I have always remembered and cherished. He was no longer my teacher. Even in school, we did not always see eye to eye. But he clearly cared about me.
