Erikson Timeline

  • Infant

    Trust vs. Mistrust
This is the first stage of Erikson's Psychosocial Theory. It is important the infant learns how to trust the caregiver if they are loved and cared well for. If the infants lacks these things it could come into affect with their perspective in life, having a hard time trusting others. During my infancy I was trusting and never picky with who was holding me because I grew to trust and felt secure. This was also the cause of how I was still drinking milk until the age of five.
  • My middle to late childhood

This is the fourth stage of Erikson's Theory called "Industry vs. Inferiority" this stage is also important because it's a reflection of who you are while also trying to figure out who you are. During this time you would feel more insecure about yourself and compare you to others. During my middle school years I always felt that I wasn't good at anything and I felt useless because I never engaged in sports until 2 yrs later. Even to this day I am still finding what opportunies there are for me.
  • My relationship

Intimacy vs. Isolation is Erikson's sixth stage. The risk you take after finding out your identiity to stay in a serious intimate relationship during your early adulthood. If you're unable to complete this stage you may start to wonder and feel isolated. Once I feel content with myself, I was able to open up and be vulnerable towards any of my close relationships, that I still have today. This is the stage that lead me to my boyfriend of 4 yrs. In the long run we plan to get marry after college.
