    Marius Beijerinck was the first person to see a virus under a microscope. The Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) is transmitted when an infected leaf comes into contact with skin. TMV was the first virus to be seen under a microscope when Beijerinck discovered its ability to reproduce.
