    Montesquie expresss his ideas on how the government should be run. He came up with the separation of powers, where no one person or group should recieve all the power. It should be separated into 3 branches: executive, judicial and legislative.
  • America declares independence

    After being fairly untaxed by the British, the 13 colonies decided to declare independance from Britian.
  • French Revolution

    French Revolution
    The French Revolution was influenced by the ideas of the enlightenment. It all started because King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette ignored their country and tried to escape. Many groups tried to rebell. But in the end Napoleon became the hero and crowned himself emperor. It greatly affected France and many other countries around the world.

    Napoleon overthrew the Directory and then became one of the three consultes. Later on, Napleon was the only consulte left. He then crowned himself emperor.

    After Napoleon overthrew the directory and became the only consulte left, he wanted to create a huge empire. He first crowned himself emperor of France and then continued to conquer other countries.

    On the island of San Domingue. the slaves decided to rebell. Because there were so many more slaves than whites, it was very easy for them to revolt. Boukman called the revolt, but L'Overture lead it.

    Padre Hidalgo rang the bells of the church to call a revolt. 60,000 peseants marched into Mexico City. He was then captured and executed before Mexico's independance.

    The people of France started to hate Napoleon and was sent away. He was too stuborn to give up, so he came back for one last battle at the Waterloo, where he was defeated.
