Educational Timeline

  • My Arrival

    My Arrival
I am the fourth of five children in my family. They have all been trying to keep up with my big ideas and fervour for life since the day we met.
  • Beginning of Education Journey

    Beginning of Education Journey
I began school at Hague Elementary School in Saskatchewan. I lived in a small hamlet twenty minutes from school so I would be bussed in every day.
  • School Change

    School Change
In grade four my family moved to a small town in northern Alberta. This was a difficult adjustment for me moving to another province and changing schools. This experience was valuable for me in understanding how my future students may feel after coming into my class from a different school and how I can make the transition as easy as possible.
  • High School Graduation

    High School Graduation
Leaving high school was also difficult for me because that meant leaving all my classmates and teachers that I built relationships and interacted with everyday. But I was excited to start working to save up for college!
  • Donald School of Business

    Donald School of Business
I enjoyed working for my County as a Permit Clerk so I decided to move to Red Deer, AB to work toward my Commerce Degree.
  • Los Angeles Dream Center

    Los Angeles Dream Center
After completing a year in the Commerce Program, I questioned if my personality was the right fit this degree. At the end of the winter semester I went on a Missions Trip to the Los Angeles Dream Centre where I worked in with variety homeless initiatives. Somewhere in my time volunteering I decided to switch my program to Education as I saw it as a better fit for me.
  • Bachelor of Education

    Bachelor of Education
Switching into the BEd program was one of the best decisions of my life. Once I was there, I knew that it was the right degree for me.
  • IFX Practicum

    IFX Practicum
My first practicum was teaching grade seven math and science at St. Francis of Assisi in the Red Deer Catholic School Division. This was a very valuable learning experience for me as I was immersed in the school culture and teaching on a daily basis. I gained experience lesson planning and working with a grade collaboration team.
  • Sylvan Lake Hockey Camp

    Sylvan Lake Hockey Camp
From my first practicum I didn't feel like I gained enough experience with classroom management. Durning the summer I had the opportunity to work as a team coordinator at a hockey camp and developed a strong understanding of managing over 35 students everyday.
  • Final Practicum

    Final Practicum
I am currently working on my final practicum placement in grade four at Mattie McCullough Elementary School. I look forward to continuing with them full time in February to gain more field experience.
