Biological Father leaves
In 1996 my biological father, Richard walked out on my Mother leaving her to raise me as a single mother. The greatest influences in my life at this time were my mom and grandfather. My mom showed true strength in choosing to parent me without support. In history, the Unibomber who killed numerous people was tracked, captured, and arrested. -
Terrorist Attacks 9/11
In 2001 I remember sitting on the couch watching the replays and news coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This was extremely scary not only because of what happened to our country but because my Dad was flying a lot for work, I feared a lot for his safety. The biggest influence in my life at this time in my life was my step-dad, he was my best friend. -
Mom marries Stepfather
My Mom married my Stepfather, Shane on this day. It was exciting to be a family. They were both a huge influence in my life and were always pushing me to do my best at all I did. Huge technological advances for Google occured in 2004 with the development of Gmail. Gmail is still widely used and even used at ASU. -
NJHS induction
In January 2007 I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. We focused very much on bettering our school and community. During this time our Athletic director Barbie Armstrong was a huge influence in my life, she always pushed me to strive for my best on the volleyball court. In 2007 there was a huge shooting at Virgina Tech, this left the collegiate community on edge and wondering when the next attacker would strike. -
First C on a report-card
My freshman year of high school was challenging. I enrolled in honors classes and was not prepared for the challenges they would bring. I earned my first ever C on a report card in my Honors english class. During this time my grandpa was the biggest influence in my life. Beginning in high school my parents and I became distant and very different people. Obama was recently elected as President in 2008 so there were many great class discussions on the new changes happening in the U.S. -
Cancer diagnosis
In 2011 I was diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma a cancer of the lymph system. As crazy as it sounds this was a high and a low point. It was extremely scary, but it taught me who I truly am. My grandfather was diagnosed the same year but he kept me strong and fighting. Don't Ask Don't tell is repealed in 2010. This strikes huge controversies in the U.S and throuought the Military. -
CANCER FREE!
On this day I was told that there was no evidence of cancerous tumors in my body. This does not mean im cured or out of the woods, but there are no active tumors. I was most influenced my by my grandpa during this point in my life, he was in his last months of life and we spent a lot of time together. In 2011 Osama Bin Laden was captured and killed by Seal Team Six. This opperation was a huge step in ending terrorism in the middle east. -
First day at ASU
First semester at ASU. This was one of the highes and lowest points in my life. I was embarking on a new journey in life but I was also struggling with an eating disorder that took a turn for the worst when I came to college. My biggest influence at this time was my friend Heather. She was always there for me and supported me through many difficult times in my life. Obama was elected for his second term in November 2012. -
Job at Sun Devil Fitness
On January 1, 2013 I began my career at Sun Devil Fitness. I began as a desk assistant, was promoted to Facility Manager and I have since then worked as an Operations Manager and Facilities Manager. This job has been filled with highs and lows, highs being promotions and awards and the low being the fact that I was not successful in the position of opps manager. My boss Mike was one of the biggest and best influences in my life. Lance Armstrong dissapoints many this year due to steroid use. -
GPA tanks
This past semester I did not do as well as I would have hoped. My GPA went from a 3.92 to a 3.88. It may not seem like a big deal but it is! My biggest influence at this time is my boyfriend and best friend Cody, he's always there to push me but love me at the same time. Gas prices are at an all time low, making many consumers happy. -
Purchased first car
On this day I purchased my first car. It was awesome to have the money to buy it myself. It came with its ups and downs, the down being a new insurance policy to pay for but the ups far outweigh the downs. In the world at this time there have been numerous protests against the police force and their supposed use of force on unarmed individuals. This has brought about much controversey. Cody and his family continue to be a huge influence in my life, I am extremely grateful for their love.
