    In the year of 711, Reconquista begins. This is when the Spanish and Portuguese Christians pushed out the Moors, which took about 700 years. In the end the Castile and Aragon families were the most powerful, so they intermarried to create the strongest royal family at the time.

    Pippin III became King
    Pippin III kicked Childeric III off the throne in 751. Pippin III then became king of the Franks. He was the first Frankish king to be anointed by St. Boniface and then Pope Stephen II.

    William the Conqueror defeated English forces and claimed the English land as his own. He became the King of England along with the Duke of Normandy.

    The "Domesday Book" was the record book that kept track of who owned what. The records would be used for taxing people.

    The Magna Carta was created so that the King could not impose ridiculous taxes or "step on the toes of citizens." The Magna Carta was reissued in the 13th century with modified issues.

    Charlemagne expanded the Frankish Empire through his military tactics. Through the expansion he kept the military occupied and added new people to his empire.

    Pope Leo III was being attacked by Lombord people. In a quest for help, he asked Charlemagne for his help. Charlemagne accepted and destroyed the Lomords, becoming their King. In result for the help, Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne the Emperor of Rome, the first ever since Rome's downfall.

    Leif Ericson, a viking, was from Iceland. He sailed West, found land, and named it "Greenland." Even though it had more ice than Iceland, he used the name to bring more people to his land, Greenland.

    The Pope once again needed help fighting against attackers. So, the Pope called on Otto the Great, who excepted. Otto succeeded and was crowned Emperor of Rome. The Church gave approval of the Roman Empire to become the Holy Roman Empire.

    The Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte is signed
    Rollo, head of the Vikings, signed the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte with the King of France during the fall of 911. Rollo had to change his name to a French name, convert to Christianity, pledge allegiance to the King, and most of all protect the French from "the northern." In return, Rollo received land for settlement, and named it Normandy.
