  • Parents Divorce

    Having my parents divorced made a huge impact on my life. Growing up from having a loving family to serperated parents was tough. My parents still expected me to do well in school.I believe that's the time where I heard about Obama running for President.
  • 12th Birthday

    My twelfth birthday was the last birthday I celebrated with my parents in California at Sixflags. My parents wanted me happy and to continue life. No political event were happening.
  • Quincanera

    I had a quincanera in Mexico. It's an important tradition for Hispanic culture. My mom and sister were not there. Only my father was present. The divorce truley seperates familes. My sister and mother were happy for me. During that time there were no political issues occuring.
  • Due to Moms Income

    I was able to qualify for many scholarships because my mom made under 60,000 dollars a year. That way I was able to attend college. My parents were defenitely happy about their daughter attending higher education.
  • New York

    I went to New York as my class senior trip. My parents were happy that I am traveling around the world. The Dream Act was huge during that time.
  • Graduated High School

    I come from a family from two, I am Hispanic and graduated high school from the top of my class. My parents were happy that not only did I graduate but that I was attedning to ASU later on. During that time SB1070 was going on.
  • Freshmen Year of College

    I was experiencing the culture shock. My parents were trying to be very helpful during the process of me attending college. Obama was re-elected that year.
  • 2011

    My junior year of high school, my mother filed for bankruptcy. It was a hard time because we had to move to another home. My mom wanted to find somewhere safe to live. Immigration was huge during that time a well.
  • 2013 College

    Handling an Internship plus 100 hours of community service was tough. As always my parents were very helpful through the process. Immigratuon as always was a huge aspect.
  • 2014 Sonora, Mexico

    Experiencing a different part of Mexico for the first time. The way people live is mind blowing. My parents allowed me to go with a different family. There was some sort of protest occuring with college students over there.
