Defining Moments

  • Dad's Influence on my Interest in Technology

My Dad was a huge influence on me when I was young, especially on my interest in technology and computers. Since my Dad was an employee at Microsoft, as well as the fact that he loves to work with computers, home automation, and the likes, he has ultimately caused me to take a deep interest in computers and technology.
  • Asperger Syndrome Diagnosis

A large revelation in my life was when I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. I realized why I was so anti-social and had difficulty making friends, but I also found out why I was so good at spelling and understanding the English language. Ever since I found out about my disorder, I kept in mind the difficulties that I would face when it came to socializing with people, as well as the difficulties that might have arisen in school work.
  • Switch from Elementary to Secondary School

The switch from elementary school to secondary/high school was not easy for me. I realized that teachers would no longer be as lenient in schoolwork as elementary teachers were, and that I was a lot more responsible for myself and my future in high school. I found that the work was much more difficult, and that I could actually fail courses instead of just getting low grades in them.
  • Building my first PC

This event contributed to my personal development because it made me realize how much I enjoyed working with computer hardware and technology. It made me more knowledgeable in purchasing computer parts at the lowest price, as well as the performance of different parts. I am still building PC’s today, for instance, I will be building my brother his own computer for his birthday.
  • Trip to Cuba

I went to Cuba during March of 2016 and got a chance to see how the locals lived downtown. Frankly, it was a little bit traumatizing and I realized at that point I should never take things I own for granted. Seeing how nearly all of the citizens of Cuban towns were living in poverty, it made me realize that I should be very grateful and feel lucky to have the things I have.
