    Working parents
Growing up I grew up in a house with two working parents. Having a working mom really influenced me and makes me proud to be a working women as well. When my mom decided to work many people thought she shouldn't and should stay home and take care of her children. Her choosing to work really taught me to stand up and do what makes me happy. I have chose a picture of me and my mom.

    Nuclear Family
My family structure growing up taught me about my values, who I am and what I believe. I grew up in a nuclear family with two parents and a brother and sister. It wasn't until I was a little older that I really understood different types of families. Growing up in a family with married parents has really influenced my opinion on marriage and families. In my family I do have two working parents which influence who I am today and makes me proud to be a working women. I chose a picture of my family
  • Adoption

    Adoption
My brother is adopted from Russia. After my brother was adopted our family made it a priority to learn the Russian culture. It is something that continues to influence who I am as a person today. I have returned to Russia several times on mission trips. It has also opened my heart to adoption and I plan on adopted a child one day as well. Having a brother who is adopted has really opened my eyes to so many things about the world I didn't know before.
  • Moving

    Moving
As a child i moved several times. As a child this was important to me and who I am as a person because I felt like I was constantly being uprooted. It was hard to make strong friendships because of the fear of moving. I do not have any "hometown ties." I chose a picture of a globe to represent all the places I have lived.
  • Love for learning

    Love for learning
Growing up I always enjoyed school and the school aspect but never really loved learning until I had one of my favorite teachers. She cared enough to show me I could do anything I set my mind to. For this reason I am in education today. I have chose a picture of a teacher for my picture because teachers have been so crucial in me figuring out who I am.
  • Grandparents moving

    Grandparents moving
When I was in high school we moved my grandparents into a nursing home. I had always been very close to my grandparents and this was a really hard time for me. It was hard to come to the realization that they were growing older. My grandparents have always influenced me and my values as a person. I chose the word love for this picture because it is the word that comes to mind when I think of my grandparents.
  • Decision of Faith

    Decision of Faith
Growing up I always went to church and knew about faith and religion but it wasn't until I was in high school that I really made my own decision about my faith and really decided to be a Christian. I have learned to love and how to treat people through my religion. I have chose a picture of me and my siblings at camp where I made this decision.
  • Choosing to go to college

    Choosing to go to college
After I graduated from high school I had a big decision to make, whether to go to college or go into the work force. My parents did not want to influence my decision so this was a decision I made all on my own. It is important to me because it really made me take a look into my life and who I am as I person. I took a long hard look at who I am and what was important to me. I chose a picture of SFA which is where I went to college.
  • Voting

    Voting
In the recent election was my first time to vote. I had never really learned about politics or formed an opinion on my political views. During the election I did in depth research to really form my views. This is important to me because I felt like it was one of the first things I chose and formed the opinions all on my own. I chose a book to represent all the research I did to form these opinions.
  • Graduating College

    Graduating College
Being the first in my family to graduate college was a high accomplishment in my life. It took more hard work and dedication than anything else I have ever done in my life. It taught me how strong and how capable I am. It taught me to always continue to push when times get hard. I am so thankful that I went to college because I has been the biggest influence in my life so far.
