  • Before CTW

    Before CTW
Before Change the World my family had raised many different animals, we have raised sheep, pigs, meat chickens, laying hens, ducks, a horse, and a cow. I started working at Georges because I loved farming and could not get enough of it.
  • Started working with George.

    Started working with George.
This was the start of one of the most memorable experiences in my life, George has inspired me and given me ideas about making movies and of course farming. Working with George is a very hands on experience, as a teacher he lets you do whats he is teaching and it really helps you understand. On my first time working with George he let me milk a cow right away which was very exciting and shows that George is very trusting.
  • First Pigs

    First Pigs
This was the first year I raised pigs by myself for the first time. Here I really put all the knowledge I have gained throughout the 13 years of my life into raising these three pigs, I also raised turkeys with my sister. This was very fun and paid off a lot, I shipped my pigs to be processed on November 30th and sold the meat to families who wanted all natural, pasture raised pork.
  • Started Preparing Pasture for pigs and heifers.

Started Preparing Pasture for pigs and heifers.
Here I cleaned, smoothed and put manure on the pasture so the exposed soil from last years pigs would not wash away leaving rocks and gravel. George knew that I was going to have this problem so he gave me advice to work on it otherwise I would have problems.
  • Second Pigs

    Second Pigs
This year I knew how much I had enjoyed raising pigs by myself last year and wanted to do it again, so this year I bought four piglets and am planning again to raise them for meat. Things I learned from last year about raising pigs is that I need a more affordable way to feed them, I contacted Pete's Greens in Waterbury about old produce to feed my pigs. I also am pasturing my pigs in the woods which will make less of an impact on our fields and pastures and is better for our ecosystem.
  • Heifers Come!

    Heifers Come!
One thing that George has done for me this summer is that he is going to pasture 10 heifers on one of the pastures at my house. He gave me the responsibility to feed and water the heifers into the late fall when they will go back to the barn and some will be bred. I am very excited to take on this responsibility and have already started to prepare the pasture. This means that George(hopefully) trusts me and my knowledge of farming and knowing how to handle the animals.
  • Doing Something New

    Doing Something New
One of the many things that George has inspired me to do over the last two year is that if you really have a dream, or you really want to do something, just put all your effort towards it and it will become a reality. The thing that George has inspired me to do is raise cattle, starting this year I am going to construct a new run in shelter for them and put in new fencing. My projected time to do this would be next summer. I am very excited to see if I can reach this goal.
  • Working with George in the Future

Working with George in the Future
I hope to work with George all the way through high school and also be able to responsibly raise healthy, happy livestock and food for people to put on their table.
