This had an impact on my dad because we have some family that lives close to Des Moines and he was afraid for their safety during the flood. -
Dale Earnhardts Death
My dad was a big fan of Dale and when he died my dad was crushed because he felt so strongly towards Dale. -
9/11
This made an impact on my dad because it effected the whole country and my mom had been to the World Trade Center towers a year before so it was scary to think that she could have been there trapped in the rubble like all the other poor people. -
Flood of 2008
My dad, my uncle and I were in Minnesota on a fishing trip when the flood started so we came home as fast as we could in fear of the flood impacting our family. We drove home on I-380 and could see the water almost creasting onto the highway. -
Barack Obama Elected President
This was a big impact the the nation. But to my dad, he thought Barack could change the world and could really help this great country. Also Barack was our first Black president so my dad thought the country might be over its descrimination.
