  • Birth

    Birth
I was born on Easter afternoon on April 7th, 1996. This event jump started my whole life and without it I wouldn't be here today. My parents had to make the short run decision to have me because they knew in the long run that it would be worth it.
  • Sisters are best friends till the end

Sisters are best friends till the end
Following the law of self interest, my parents made another choice to have my sister Laura. Because of my parents rational decision, my life was also changed by her birth. I have not only a great sister but a best friend thats always there.
  • Baby Brother

    Baby Brother
Three years later the short term choice of having another child greatly outweighed the long term cost so my parents decided to have my brother Cameron. They discovered that he fit in with their marginal benefit cost analysis and wasn't too much to handle. He is also my little jokester and my other best friend.
  • Diagnosis

    Diagnosis
In 2004 my grandpa was diagnosed with Leukemia. This was hard on my family because it was the first time anything really drastic took place but my grandpa stayed strong undergoing chemotherapy for many years. My grandpa had various explicit costs to pay for his hospital bills and it was unfortunate because he couldn't use his implicit resources anywhere else because he was always stuck at the hospital.
  • Deployment

    Deployment
In 2005 my hero, my dad who serves in the National Guard, was deployed to Iraq for 18 months. This was hard on my family with him being gone for so long and created distance between us. Although he didn't want to go, there was incentives of higher pay and advancing in position in the military. He was a great resource and leader for all his troops and I admire my dad for the great man he is.
  • A New Car

    A New Car
Finally 16. Finally have my license. Now I only needed a car. The resources were scarce for a cheap car that was also nice and got good gas mileage but the demand for a good car with those qualities is always high. Luckily in this situation the ration was decided by the central authority/ fixed favoritism (my father) and he gifted with my baby Bruce.
  • A new job

    A new job
16 years old and in need of some money I applied for my first job at Windcrest retirement home. Because of economic equity I had a fair chance in he job market of getting the job and I did. After the company hired me they could have considered their opportunity cost but I was obviously their best choice so they had nothing to worry about about. A year later I am still waiting tables at Windcrest and although it isn't my favorite, it brings in a steady income so I can't complain.
  • Whoops!

A sunk cost is a lost cause, ain't that the truth. For my boyfriend and I's anniversary last year he took me to the melting pot. Now by the time I got the chocolate fondue there was no doubt that I was full to the brim but I was going to finish off that chocolate no matter how many calories it was or how it would make me feel in about an hour. So I ate the chocolate but because it was a sunk cost I didn't flash back to it when trying to lose weight because I couldnt recover it.
  • Every shopping dilemas

    Every shopping dilemas
Honestly, I am the complete stereotypical girl. I am completely indecisive and can never make up my mind expecially when it comes to shopping. Most recently with my homecoming dress. It's always difficult to find a nice, cheap dress and it's a great deal. But then I realize maybe it isnt the best deal. People (especially girls) always want whats best for them so of course I wanted the best dress. I eventually settled but from that I have learned that no matter what I do I will always be rational
  • College

    College
Being a senior and beginning to apply to colleges is completely nerveracking. However, I have made the decision to go to a private Christian college which narrows down my choices. I understand that there is a opportunity cost of large universities like CU or CSU but the incentive to go to a private school is huge for me because it includes positive incentives to make good decisions.
