  • Six-Day War

    Six-Day War
    Various attacks against Israel over a six-day period (hence the name). Syria was used as a base, Egypt closed a port off to Israel. The war ended after an order to cease-fire. Israel gained control of Gaza, Sinai Peninsula, Golan Heights, West Bank, and East Jerusalem. The war overall was a success for Israel and gave Israel power and authority in the region.
  • Yom Kippur War

    Yom Kippur War
    Egypt, Syria, and Iraq attempted to regain the land they had lost during the Six-Day War. They attacked Israel in attempt to gain the lost land. With help from the United States the Israelis won. The United States helped in order to gain ties with Israel and gain oil. They ended up receiving what they wanted as well.
  • Camp David Accords

    Camp David Accords
    The Camp David Accords is a document/agreement signed in order to have a peace between Egypt and Israel. The United States was present to witness the agreement and mediate the interactions between the two parties. As a result Israel is seen as an independent states in the eyes of Egypt.
  • Intifada

    Intifada
    The first account of Palestinians uprising against the Israelis. The first incident of many occurring on the Gaza Strip between Israel and Palestine. The disputes were over land. The tension began in 1987 and last through 1993. There were 1,000 casualties.
  • Second Intifada

    Second Intifada
    The uprising was known as the al-Aqsa intifada. It broke out in September 2000. This occurred because negotiations broke down between the Arabs and the Israelis. The event started out as tension then grew into fighting conflict.
