  • Six-Day War

    Egyptian troops had moved into the Sinai and closed of Israel's route to the Red Sea, and so they expected an Arab attack. Israel then attacked first by launching airstrikes at Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. Israel's ground troops then moved in and rapidly defeated Arab forces.
  • Yom Kippur War

    Yom Kippur War
    Egypt and Syria had launched the Yom Kippur War, because they were determine to win their territory back. Israel was not fully prepared for the attack and needed military support from the United States since it was a surprise attack. After weeks of fighting, both sides agreed to a cease-fire.
  • Camp David Accords

    In the late 1970s no Arab nation had recognized Israel's rights to exist. This led the presidents and prime minister from different countries to come together and make an agreement called the Camp David Accord. This made peace between Egypt and Israel by letting Israel be recognized as existing.

    Iranians began to protest against the shah's rule. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini became a leader of the Islamic republic and he put strict social and religious values.

    Tensions began to happen in the West Bank and Gaza, because Israel had begun building settlements. The rebellion had Palestinian youths battle Israel troops in a widespread street violence, but the troops responded in strong military and police resistance.
