First Arab-Israeli War
The first Arab-Israeli War happened in Israel in 1948. Israel declared independence from Arab countries which started a war lasting from May to December. -

Egypt began closing off the Gulf of Aqaba, Israels route to the Red Sea. Israel expecting an Arab attack decided to strike first and launched air striked against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. Yom Kippur War
After the six day war, Egypt and Syria launched a surprised attack againt Israel. Israel was not prepared and called the U.S. for military support. -
Camp David Accords
After the Yom Kippur War Egypt wanted peace with Israel. United States President Jimmy Carter invited Sadat and Israeli prime minister Begin to Camp Dvaid in Maryland to reach an agreement. -
Intifada
Israel began buildign settlements in West Bank and Gaza and tension was rising. Israeli occupation called for the intifada. Palestinian youths battled Israeli troops in street violence. Fighting continued until the early 1990s.
