  • Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is formed

    Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is formed
    In 1964 Palestinian Nationalists formed the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and pledged to destroy Israel and replace it with a Palestinian state. This group would start to launch guerrilla attacks against Israel. This would start to build tensions in the West Bank and Gaza, it would lead to the Intifada Rebellion.
  • Six-Day War Begins

    Six-Day War Begins
    In 1967 after Egyptian troops began to close off the Gulf of Aqaba, which was Israel's route to the Red Sea. Expecting a large-scale Arab attack Israel chose to strike first, this would be a very decisive choice because they were able to rapidly defeat the Arab forces in just six days, thus its name.
  • Yom Kippur War Starts

    Yom Kippur War Starts
    The Yom Kippur war was a war in 1973 when Egypt and Syria launched a surprise attack against Israel. They did this to win their territory lost in the Six Day War.
  • Camp David Accords Signed

    Camp David Accords Signed
    In 1977 Egyptian President Anwar Sadat declared that Egypt wanted peace with Israel. U.S. President Jimmy Cater invited Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin to Camp David the presidential retreat in Maryland to help facilitate the historic peace treaty that ended 30 years of hostility between Israel and Egypt.
  • The Intifada Rebellion

    The Intifada Rebellion
    In 1987 as tension was building up in the West Bank and Gaza, Palestinian resentment towards Israeli occupation lead to the Intifada rebellion. This lead to Israel giving more and more control to the Palestinians.
