    In 1933 Chiang Kai-Shek's army surrounds Mao Zendong's army. The Long March was when ommunist's goes 6,000 mile journey to safety in the north. Only 7,000 to 8,000 survived out of 100,000 communists.

    Cultural Revolution

    The Cultural Revolution started when Mao Zedong heared about people began wanting private ownerships. So Zedong established this group of young college students that was called Red Guard. Their job was to make war on everything that inspired the class differences. The Red Guard attacked many college professors, business leaders and they were imprisoned.

    When Deng Xiaoping became leader he allows farmers to own some land and some private businesses. He also opened China to new technology and foreign investment with other countries. Because of this people of China exposed to western ideas and democray.

    The Tiananmen Square Massacre was where over 10,000 students gathered to protest for a move to demoracy in the government. So chinese troops came to Tiananmen Square and killed around 1,000 demonstrators.
