When I first moved to Brewster, I had no friends because I acted so different compared to everyone else because of where I was from. However one day I was walking in this park at the basketball court and I found people that talked like me. I wanted to ball with them and they said sure. I went against this one guy named Paul. The match got heated and he fouled me. We started to argue then fist fight.When we were both on the ground we fell on our backs and we looked at each other. -
8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony
Ever since I moved to Brewster back in middle school, I have been treated differently by some other students. Whether it was the way I spoke, looked, what I did or who I hung around, I have been seen as this stereotypical uncivilized minority. However, I have always maintained a high academic standing amongst my peers. To those that didn't care and just assumed, my academic success was not known to them. When I was in 8th grade and we had our moving up ceremony, many people doubted me.. -
Haunted House
One time me and my friends went on a bike path to ride our bikes.We saw a forest trail off of. We went down the trail and we found an abandoned house on an aqueduct.The house had demonic and satanic graffiti inside it. It seemed haunted because of the creepy drawing on the walls and vibe. However, were we very young a stupid so we went inside it and found bags and pillows. We took a picture in front of it and one of my friends' bags was mysteriously pushed into the aqueduct.. -
Laundry Money
My best friend Zy, goes through many hardships just like I do. So because of his economic situation, his family is working constantly. This means chores need to be done while the majority of the family is at work or busy. One day I was doing his whole family's laundry by himself. I Wanted to help him because the sooner he finished, the sooner he could come out and hang out. When we finished his uncle got home and he noticed I helped. He looked at me and handed me a 10 dollar bill.. -
Halloween 5k
It was Halloween. I did have a cross country race in the morning though. The race was a 5k and during the season I believed I deserved my varsity spot for this home meet against Walter Panas, but my Coach had other plans. He decided to put me in the JV Race because he didn't think I am ready yet for the varsity race. I know he was just looking out for the team, but I took it personally. Doubt makes me do better so when I heard that something switched in my brain. -
Android vs IPhone
Growing up I didn't have much technology. No videogames, phone or tablets mainly because I never asked for once since I was very active outside. In middle school I did want a phone so I bought an android phone. I was bullied because it was viewed as cheap and poor. Everyone had an Iphone I dreamed of having. It seemed so cool to have. However, on Christmans my freshman year I saved up for an Iphone. I realized the materialistic brainwashing is real because I don't see many differences in assis.. -
First Flight
My first flight alone was quite the learning experience. This is because I paid for the ticket to Mexico by myself and went by myself to see my family. It was my choice so it felt like such a indepenct power move to make as a young adult. This felt like a step toward adulthood as I went through the packed JFK Airport doing everything on my own. Figuring stuff as I went on the way and knowing both languages helped a lot. However, I made it safe there and back without question. -
Brother's Performance
I have always been a good multitasker because when I need to finish multiplehtings before a certain time, I do it all at once. During my older brothers first semester he joined this eperfming arts group where they sing and dance for an audienc. He asked me to attend one of his perfomces for support and I agree.However, that night I got caught up withs school work that was due that midnight. So I had to finish the work but I didn’t wanna dich my older brother perfemoce. So i brought my homework.. -
2nd Road Test Fail
As the instructor came into the car for my 2nd road test, my emotions just increased in all areas. I was so nervous. I was thinking about all the things that I have learned from my first failure and I was determined to pass. We started and we made it to the stop light. He said make a left and a pedestrian was passing so I approached a bit and stopped and waited. As I waited for the pedestrian to pass another car flew past the light and almost hit me. Little Brother's First Track Meet
Going to my brother's first track meet was a proud experience for me as an older brother and veteran track athlete. I gave him many tips for events like long jump, hurdles and the mile because of my experience in the pentathlon, I train for all those events as well. He was a very good listener and he made me feel like a coach. Seeing him get better marks anf times as the season continued made me happy knowing I constantly help and give him good advice to be a better athlete and runner.
