    At the hieght of the outbreak in 250 to 266, 5,000 people were said to be killed by it each day. The plague was said to have killed 20% of the empires population.The plague caused widespread manpower shortages in agriculture and the Roman army. The Plague was named the plague of Cyprain after St. Cyprain bishop of carthage, a writer who witnessed and decribed it.

    Skandagupta was the last good emperor of The Gupta empire. The Gupta empire flourished under him. During his time as emperor he fought off many foriegn invaders including the Huns. The constant foriegn invaders cost the empire lots of money. After his death, there were many weak emperors and the Gupta Empire eventually collapsed.

    Huns invade Gupta Empire

    The gupta empire was in constant threat on invasion from the north. The cost of funding these invasions was high. And the government was having a tough time collecting taxes to fund these constant invasions. The most troublesome invadors were the huns, who had by 500 conquered the northwestern section of Gupta. Though the Huns did not completly overrun the empire, the huns did cause financial problems in Gupta.

    On of the most important factors in the collapse of the Han Dynasty was the Sino-Xiongnu Wars between (133bc - 89ad). More than two centuries the chinese fought them. In 89ad the Han crushed the Huns, this lead to the Chinese government becoming destablized. The Huns weakened their military and economy eventually leading to their collapse.

    Diocletian realized the Roman Empire had grown too large for him to govern effectly. His solution was to spilt the empire in half and have it ruled by two emperors. They were called eastern and western empire. He kept the eastern half besuade it was the wealty side. For the western side Diocletian chose a military officer named Maximian to rule.

    The battle of Adrianople was the beginnging of the the end for the Roman empire. The battle was fought between the goths and the Roman emperor Valen. The Roman foot soilders were defenseless against the Gothic horsemen. The Roman army was crushed. After the battle the barbarian knew that they could now suceed in Roman territory. The battle of Adiranople was the worse defeat they had suffered in a while.
