    The Great Leap Forward was devolped in order to improve agriculutre and industry. Mao believed that these subjects had to grow in order for other problems in the society to grow. These problems were needed to ensure that the work force was going to be well fed. Agruculture needded industry in order to make modern technology for farming. This would help make farming easier and more efficient. To achieve these thing, China was set up into communes

    Split with the Soviet Union
    This was the worsening of political and ideological relations between the Republic of China and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. There was the proposition of peaceful coexistence between the tow, but Mao rejected this idea.Since 1956 (when Nikita Khrushchev denounced the legacy of Stalin), China and the USSR had progressively diverged. Their doctrinal differences were proven intractable creating differences about beliefs. They split, and this problem concerned world communism.

    A meeting was held with the Plenum of the Central Committee, where Mao shot down national schools. Calling for a youth mobilization, to embrace their bourgeois values and lack of revolutionary spirit. Taking current party leaders to task. The students formed a paramilitary group called the Red Guard, where they attacked and harrassed the eldery and intellectual population. This so called cult around Mao claimed the true interperatations of Maoist thoughts.

    This mainly had to do with Mao's paramilitary, called the Red guard. These people were harrassng and attacking teachers, intellectual population, and other classes. Red guards were able to do these things becasue Mao thought that the government should turn a blin eye to the violence as an inevitable byproduct. The Ministry of Public saftery also forbidded the police to supress these student movements. As a result there was more mass violence to people with people background,mass killings ensued.

    US President Richard Nixon visits. Both countries declare a desire to norrmalise relatioins. Before this Cina considered US as one of their foes. And thisk event ended twenty five years of seperation between them. US wanted better relations with the PRC government. This did just that, and pitted the PRC with the US again the Soviet Union.
