The Civil War is renewed.
After the end of World war 2, the two sides resume the civil war.
Chiang kai shek moved his soldiers to the major cities in China.
CPC gained support of the Soviet union and gained the support of the rural masses . -
CPC gaining momentum
CPC continued to take nationalist cities. With each victory thry were gaining support within the Chinese population. -
10 reasons why KMT lost the Civil War
1.8 year Japanese war which exhausted the govt finances.
2.Deceptive military strength , they were tired of the Japanese war .
3.The bad strategy of the nationalist leaders. They lost over one million men from September 1948 to January 1949.
4.Inflation: destroyed the livelihood of millions of people.
5. High inflation caused economic collapse.
6.Loss of Public confidence and respect.(bad conduct of the nationalists)
7.Failure of American mediation and aid to the KMT.
8.Not implementing reforms. -
CPC captures Beijing
CPC declares victory. China now under the People's Republic of China rule. The nationalists flee to Taiwan where they establish their own Government. -
Why Mao won
1.Leadership. The Communists had a well thought out plan and knew how to gain the support of the people.
2.Tactics. The Nationalist tactics played into the hands of the Communists who were able to make the most of the position they found themselves in at the end of the Second World War.
3.The People. In most parts of China the Communists were able to win the suport of the majority of the local population. This was a massive advantage when advancing into territories.4.Good use of resources
