Chewy's life

  • Birth

    Birth
December 27 1999 I was born at home right inside the bathroom doorway. My father delivered me before the paramedics could even get there. This was the start of my journey called life.
  • My first dog

    My first dog
My family and I went to the Wood County Humane Society to find a dog. We adopted a dog named Cadi (Katie) we named her after Acadia National Park. This startedm on the path of loving all kinds of animals. Because of the decision to adopt her I currently want to be a vet.
  • A visit to the hospital

    A visit to the hospital
When I was very young I was playing around in my kitchen. I was spinning in circles really fast, and I slammed my head into the corner of the wall splitting my head open. I had to go to the hospital and get staples in my head. This event actually didn't change me very much, I still was a carefree 4 year old after this happened.
  • I get a new house for my birthday

I get a new house for my birthday
On my 6th birthday my parents closed the sale on the house we would soon be moving into in Rootstown, Ohio. I was moving from Bowling Green, Ohio where I had lived since I was born. This made me loose touch with old friends and gain new friends.
  • We get our cat Midnight

    We get our cat Midnight
My mother and I went to a garage sale where a lady was giving away free kittens, we decided to get one. We picked out the friendliest cat and my brother and I named him Midnight. We still have this cat to this day and on many occations we have taken him to the vet for some serious injuries and all these times have taught me a lot about what being a vet means.
  • We foster my second dog

    We foster my second dog
My family fostered a dog from the animal shelter my mother and i had been volenteering at. She is a Black Labrador and she had heart worms at the time. I learnedf a lot about how to take care of sick animals which is an important thing to know to be a vet.
  • we finaly adopt Katrina

    we finaly adopt Katrina
After 9 months of caring for Katrina while she had heartworms my family decided to adopt her because she turned our older dog back into a puppy again. If we hadn't adopted her I probably wouldn't be in 4-H today, and 4-H has taught me more than I can put into words about beng responsible and so much more.
  • Joining 4-H

    Joining 4-H
Some time mid November of 2010 I joined a 4-H club called Puppy Patrol. In that club you learn how to train your dog and how to show your dog. Through this club I have been exposed to many opportunities to learn new things, and to help other people, through either cummunity service or through teaching them what I have learned. The 4-H pledge itself shows exactly what 4-H can teach you, thinking skills, loyalty, and ways to serve others.
  • We put down Cadi.

    We put down Cadi.
When my dog was about 12 yers old we had to put her down because she had Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) caused by cancer. We had a vet come to our house and put her down in our back yard under her favorite tree. I learned a lot in the time right before we put her down, I learned a lot about the disease she had, and so much more.
  • We foster Chino

    We foster Chino
A little over 1 year after we put down Cadi, we got a chance to foster Chino while his owner recovered from being in an abusive relationship. During the time we fostered him I started training him and this changed how I look at dog training. I now know that every dog is different and therefore needs to be trained differently.
  • We adopt Chino

    We adopt Chino
Exactly 1 year after fostering him, Chino's owner decided she wouldnt be able to take him back so we adopted him as part of our family. This was great becuause I could strat to get even more serious in my training him, now knowing that he would be staying with us.
  • Public school?

    Public school?
Seven years ago my mother took me out of public school in 2nd grade, I have been homeschooled ever since then. Then at the end of my 6th year of homeschool my mother dropped the bomb that I was being sent to public school next year. I wasn't at all happy about that, I wanted to stay homeschooled because I knew there would a lot of people in public school and I would know no one.
  • I win queen (CONTINUED)

    I win queen (CONTINUED)
All this taught me that leaders like queens or presidents really need to be willing to work, not just sit back and watch other do all the work. It also taught me to value doing things for other people and not just myself.
  • I win queen of the dog area at the fair

I win queen of the dog area at the fair
Near the end of late June in my 4th year in 4-H I sent in an aplication to become part of Oakland County fair royalty, specifically the canine queen. After one long indepth aplication, one iterview, and one test about dogs, I dressed myself up preparing for the banquet where it would all be anounced. To my great surprise they called my name as the winner. At first I thought this would be all fun and games, after all its called royalty right? Wrong! The royalty group is about working even harder.
  • Very first day of public school

Very first day of public school
My first day of school was scary. I didn't know the building, and I didn't know anybody in the school. I had gone from my own house with just me, my mother, and my pets; to a huge confusing building with over 1,200 students, it was extreamly overwhelming. I got lost in between every single class I have and was late to almost every class. But finaly by the end of the day I was starting to get used to it all and I had a few friends.
  • Second year of 4-H

    Second year of 4-H
In my second year of 4-H I really started to mature more and I learned a lot about what the 4-H pledge and the motto really mean. The pledge is "I pledge my head to clearer thining, my eart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my heath to better living, for my club, my communtity, my country, and my world." this pledge really explains so much what I've learned in 4-H. To think better, to stay loyal to my friends, family, and peers, how to serve others effectivly, (con)
