Emperor Constantine I Founded the Byzantine Capital
Constantinople was built over a period of 6 years.This was named the new capitol because Rome was to far away. The city was split into 14 sections. The city an an excellent spacious harbor that helped trade. -

Niko Revolt (riots)
The Nika Revolt took place over the course of a week in Constantinople in AD 532. It was the most violent riot of Constantinople, nearly half the city was burned or destroyed and tens of thousands of people were killed. -

General Belisarius Military Campaigns
He was a very succesful general. He ended the Nika Uprising in 532 A.D. This resulted in Justanian I, slaughtering twenty to thirty thousand people. He captured Naples and Rome. -

The Hagia Sophia was a church built in Constantiople. Dedicated to gods free will. It was the largest curch for thousands of years. Built for the Greek Orthodox Church. -

The Arabs conquered lots of new territory. Some of the territory was Byzantine Empire which was recently weakened by plague and war. The Arabs went on to conquest Mesopotaimia and Persia. -

Emperor Basil II military conquests of Bulgaria
30,000 men were assembled for an army that marched down Sofia. He was defeated in the Battle of Gates of Trajan. He learned and fixed his mistakes. All the rest of his attacks were succesful. -

Emperor Alexios I contacts Pope Urban II for military help in Middle East
Emperor Alexios I requests to the pope that western volenteers come to help repel the attacking Turks. The objective changed to the recapturing of The Holy City. The fighting force captured the city after siege. -

Fourth Crusade
Began when the pope asked leaders to take back The Holy City. On the way to Jerusalem, a Byzantine prince convinced the military to attack Constantinople and in return the prince would fund their expedition. Shortly after they took over the city the prince was assassinated. -

Fall of Constantinople to Ottoman Turks
Lasted a total of 50 days. Led by Mehmet II. The first attack was on an early morning. They attacked at the weakest point of the wall. The were outnumbered so they retreated. After constant attacks it was taken over by the Turks and renamed.
