    In 450 AD tirbes called the Anglo-Saxons invaded the British Isles. They came from Germany,Denmark and the Netherlands. It was the origin of England, the English people and the Old English language.

    In 1066 England was invaded by the Normans led by Duke William of Normandy. After the Battle of Hastings he became King and was Known as William the Conqueror.

    They reigned from 1485 to 1603. The most famous Tudor King is Henry VIII: in 1534 he broke from the Pope and the Romans Catholic Church and established the Church of England, of which he was Head. Elizabeth I, Henry VIII's daughter, was the last monarch of the Tudor dynasty.Elizabeth had the mind of a political genius. When she died in 1603, England was one of the most powerful and prosperous countries in the world. William Shakespeare lived and worked in this period.
