Ava's Timeline

  • My birth

On this day I was born in Orlando, Florida to my mother Cecelia and my Father Brian.
  • The space shuttle Colombia explodes upon reentry to Earth.

One of the lives lost on this space shuttle was William Mccool. After his death the middle/elementary school in Guam was named after him. During my time in Guam I spent kindergarten through second grade going to this school. We were constantly informed of the astronaut and this sparked my interest in astronomy and the science, as well as the unknown in space.
  • My brothers birth

On this day my little brother Christian was born, this day still lives in my memory. My brother and I since then have been very close, and I have always been protective of him.
  • My family and I move for the first time from Orlando to Guam

This was my first move after my father joined the Navy. I wasn't sad because I had always thought that we were going to someday soon going to move back to our pink house in Orlando. I enjoyed Guam though and it has forever since been filled with my memories of a happy childhood. With parks, fruit trees, and honeysuckle flowers everywhere, I was able to explore and enjoy the scenery and culture of Guam, sprouting my love for beaches and tropical climates.
  • Go to Chamorro village for the first time

While in Guam I would constantly go to the Chamorro village which sparked my love of food and culture.
  • My family and I move from Guam to Arlington, Washington

I viewed this move as an adventure and a way to experience new things and people but I missed the island paradise of Guam. However I did enjoy the isolated cabin-like house we got and was still able to constantly enjoy the outdoors in the big yard, continuing my love of nature. This big move to a new place also caused be to become slightly quieter.
  • Obama is elected president

For the eight years that Obama was president he always inspired me with his speeches, and his actions as President.
  • Meeting family in El Paso

This was the firs time that I had met my family in El Paso in since we had moved to Guam so I didn't remember a majority of them. Meeting them caused me to want to learn Spanish so that I could learn what they were saying.
  • My family and I move from Arlington, Washington to Shoreline, Seattle, Washington

I didn't mind this move because it was still within the same state. While living in Shoreline I missed our old house but made long-lasting friends and constantly visited the city. Sparking my love of the city of Seattle and walking downtown.
  • My cousin introduces the band Queen to me

My cousin Maya and I were very close friends, especially given that we are the same age. During the summer she got me into the band Queen. This sparked my love of music from past decades starting with classic rock, then eventually I even got into Jazz.
  • Sandyhook Elemetary Shooting

I was still in elementary myself when this occurred, so this shooting as well as the many others after it made school shootings a more real threat.
  • My family and I moves from Shoreline, Seattle, Washington to Jacksonville, North Carolina.

At first I viewed this move as an adventure to a new place but there were many changes that came with this move. It was the first time that I had lived in a small, sleepy town with no downtown and nothing to do, and it was the first year that I had started middle school. By this time all of the moves has sparked my longing to travel around the world and experience new places and food.
  • My first day of middle school

It was scarier change in a new school level and a new state.
  • My first day of Highschool

It was a bit less of a scary change because it was similar to my middle school, but it was strange that I was in high school because I didn't feel that old yet.
  • Moved from Jacksonville, North Carolina to Pensacola, Florida

I was happy to move out of the sleepy town of Jacksonville to my home state in city filled with Jazz influence, that is near New Orleans, and is by a beach.
  • Spending my birthday in New Orleans

I firsthand got to experience the Jazz influence of New Orleans and its amazing food.
