    Rome is founded by twin brothers Romulus and Remus
    In 753 BCE Rome was founded by twin brothers Named Romulus and Remus under the name Roma. According to ancient roman legend the brothers based the site on where they were orphaned by a she wolf. Romulus eventually killed his brother Remus becoming the first Emperor of Rome. Historians know this due to the fact that they found the first Thraex helmet of Remus buried deep within the earth. Although Remus was not a Thracian gladiator he wore the helmet for comfort as well as protection.

    The first Official gladiator Contest occurs
    In 105 BCE The first Official gladiator contest occurred. slaves from Capua fought men from the Roman military. Most slaves were Thracian gladiators these men would have worn a Thraex helmet. The event was not seen to be as entertainment but as a training exercise for the roman military.

    Spartacus is killed in battle
    In 71 BCE Spartacus a Thracian gladiator lead a slave revolt known as the Third Servile war. He and the other slaves had wreaked havoc on Rome and moved south towards Sicily where they were defeated by Crassus (A Roman politician) with the aid of Pompey (A military and political Leader). Spartacus was said to have died in this battle but his body was never recovered. The only item of Spartacus' that was found was his Thraex helmet

    In 45 BCE Julius Ceaser became the very first dictator and supreme ruler of Rome due to this event the Republic of Rome was abolished and was now a dictatorship.

    In 44 BCE the Emperor of Rome Julius Ceaser was assassinated by a man known as Marcus Brutus. Marcus Brutus assaianated Julius Ceaser in the hope that his death would return the city of Rome to a republic

    The Emperor at the time Commodus engaged in gladiator battles himself. (His preference in class of gladiator was actually Thracian he felt secure due to the heavy but protective armour that came with being a Thracian gladiator meaning he would have worn a Thraex helmet).The only difference between him and the other fighters was he had an advantage. He was reported to have armed opponents with blunt or wooden weapons and to have fought against fighters who were weak injured or disabled.

    In 217 AD the Coliseum was struck by lightning. It started a fire which soon burnt down half of the Coliseum leaving a much loved source of entertainment reduced to a mountain of rubble.

    With the Christian religion growing rapidly throughout the city of Rome and all gladiator training schools already closed an Asian monk stood between two gladiators and was stoned to death.The emperor at the time emperor Honorius decide that this was the last straw and prohibited all gladiator battles across the empire. This meant that all types of gladiator equipment including the thraex helmet were no longer in use.

    For the First time in 800 years the Visigoths lead by their leader Alaric succeed where every other army in history had failed they had successfully sacked Rome taking control of the region. Many pieces of armor such as shields,swords,spears,chest plates and helmets ( one helmet in particular a Thraex helmet )
