  • Birth in Montreal

    Birth in Montreal
The first day of my life was forgettable. All I know was I was born around 11 PM, and I put up a fight. Fortunately, I came out when the doctor used pincers and pinched my head to take me out. But, my head became deformed. Luckily, it's fairly round now. I'm probably one of the first born in Montreal as an asian. Today, my life begins!
  • Moving back to China

    Moving back to China
Today, I got on my first plane and moved back to Guangzhou, China. My parents wanted me to learn Cantonese before they brought me back to Canada for a better education. I lived with my grandparents on my father's side. My first language and my first steps came in China. Pretty significant if you tell me.
  • Stuck Inside

    Stuck Inside
It was still Christmas Break and I was stuck inside because of the biggest blizzard in North America. For three days, I just watched TV. Luckily, my family friends lived in our basement. They had a child the same age as me. We played with each other a lot more than usual. He was one of my best friends since that blizzard. He is still one of my best friends. Maybe being stuck inside isn't so bad once in a while
  • Landing in Toronto

    Landing in Toronto
How time flys. I'm back in Canada, but I landed in Toronto, Canada, not my birthplace in Montreal. With my parents, I came out in my round sunglasses and my little backpack. My first memory was getting into the car of my family friend. He tricked me into getting into his car with a picture of my Grandpa. This begins my transformation into a CBC (Canadian born Chinese)
  • Trick or Treat

    Trick or Treat
Tonight was the first time I experienced Halloween. I was dressed up as a fireman and my friend was a vampire. I went with my mom and we went to as many houses as we could. I got three bags of candy, chocolate and chips. It was a good haul for my first time. Halloween was now my favourite holiday. Plus, I had my first cavity which lead me to my first appointment to my dentist.
  • Learning a lesson

    Learning a lesson
It was recess and the older grades were out on a field trip. Being young, we built snow forts. When we saw no one, we broke down their forts. A left behind in grade 1 told the teacher outside and we got scolded. She sent us to a classroom and made us stay inside for the whole recess. But, the teacher taught me to sympathize. She said, "How would you feel if someone did the same thing to your fort?" I learned to put myself in someone else's shoes.
  • First Grade

    First Grade
First Grade was one of my favourite years. I was in a split class with grade ones and grade twos. My two best friends Michael and Jessica bonded a lot more. Through the year, I learned I hated math and writing. I loved gym and recess. I learned addition and subtraction, had my first crush, and I was good at running.
  • Beginning of my Addiction

    Beginning of my Addiction
For summer, my parents got me my first computer. I boosted up my grades and that was my reward. Then, my friend introduced me to this game called "Runescape". This was my first experience at online gaming. I quickly got addicted and I played 24/7. On the bright side, I learned many skills I use today. For example, my headstart in technology allowed me to research much faster than other people.
  • Unexpected Arrival

    Unexpected Arrival
Today, I heard the bell ring really early, around 7:00 AM. Normally, I slept till 11 PM. I went downstairs and saw two people who looked familiar. It was my cousin and my aunt. They just arrived and my parents never told me. They were going to live with us because my aunt wanted my cousin to get a better education. Thinking optimistically my Cantonese got better because they couldn't speak a lick of English and there were more dishes for dinner.
  • I'm a big kid now

    I'm a big kid now
Yes! I'm in fourth grade now. In my old elementary school, Grade one- to three classes were on the first floor. Grade four to eight classes were on the second floor. We went through different doors to recess too. I was one of the big kids now. Was I ever wrong...I was still short and I realized I had a lot to learn. Today was also the first day I walked home alone.
  • Welcome Sparkle

    Welcome Sparkle
Welcome to our family Sparkle. Meow. Today, my sister came home from university with a cat. The funny thing is my parents never knew. In my family, my mom would never let us have a pet. Fortunately, she let us keep it. The cat made our family bond more. We listened to each other more instead of always arguing because the cat was our first big compromise. Plus, he was trained well and wasn't shy. He liked everybody.
  • Big Change

    Big Change
Big Change happened today. I moved out of the only home I lived in since kindergarten. I had to change schools in the middle of the school year and I had to be the new kid. Luckily, they were nice people and I fit in pretty well. It was pretty similar to my old school. My ability to adapt significantly improved. My parents put me in a situation I’ve never been through and it taught me to stick through tough times.
  • Death of Grandpa

    Death of Grandpa
My Grandpa passed away today. He died of lung cancer like my other grandpa. It made me realize how lucky I am to have seen all my grandparents. Sometimes, I take him for granted. This was the day I took on more responsibilities at home. I washed the dishes, I vacuumed, and I did my own laundry for once.
  • Graduation

    Graduation
My first graduation and I'm finished elementary school. It's been a good 10 years since kindergarten in Montessori. I've learned a lot including tying my shoelaces, typing on a keyboard, making new friends, learning french and girls. There's only at least 8 years left of school. This includes University.
