Birthday- Personal
On this day, I was born. This is the beginning of my life. -
Basketball Team- Personal
I joined the baskball team for the first time. This has value to me because i grew up and found basketball as my secret get-a-away. It was something I was finally good at. -
Baptism-Personal
On this day, I was baptized. This is important for two reasons. One is the confession of my faith. However, it was also important in the fact my grandfather was the one whom batized me. He was one of the most important peoople in my life. -
Torn ACL- Personal
I tore my ACL in my right knee. This was devastating because I could not finish the basketball season. Also, I was not allowed to play the next season either. -
Guatemala- Professional
I had the privledge of going on a mission trip to Guatemala. I consider this as an influence on my professional life, because I learned a lot about diversity, children, and my abilities with children. I will be able to incorporated this experience into many social studies lessons. I can use this trip to enrich my lessons about diversity, the country Guatemala, and etc... -
Tennis Team- Personal
I took a risk and tried out for the tennis team. I made the team. This was wonderful because at that point I have been out of basketball for a year cause of an injury. -
Driver's License- Personal
I received my driver's license. This was awesome because now i could take myself places. I felt like I had a bit more freedom. -
High School Graduation- Personal
This is when I graduatated high school. I felt so accomplished and proud of myself. It felt like a new beginning for me. -
College- Professional
I began my college career. I was finally on my way to being able to do what I always wanted to do, teach. Without this, I would not be able become a teacher and start my professional career. Through my time during college, I will lhave earned and experienced many events that I can incorporate into my future social studies lessons. -
First Car- Personal
This is when I purchased my own car. I bought this car with my own money that I was saving. It felt awsome to know that I accomplished this all by myself. Also, that the car was my own personal car. -
First Practicum- Professional
I received my first practicum. During this time, I got to go out in the schools and observe what is going on. This helped reassure my decision of becoming a teacher. I got to see what I was going into. It was wonderful. I got to observe the approached teachers made to teach their students social studies. I saw neat ideas, like ballot boxes and creative craft ideas. -
Teacher Education Program- Professional
I got accepted into the teacher education program. This was important because I felt reassured in the decision I made. This also meant I was well on my way to becoming a teacher. Durign the education program, I leanred what is required of teachers and how to get to there. I learned what is meant by social studies and what should be taught about social studies. -
Taught Lesson- Professional
This is the first lesson I ever taught. I find this important because I finally got to get my feet wet. I got to teach my first lesson to actual students. I enjoyed it so much. I was very comfortable, and I interacted well the students. This once again reassured my reasoning for becoming a teacher. I did not do much with social studies. However, I got to learn which techinques worked for me and which ones did not. I will be able to transfer this knowledge towards social studeis lessons. -
Promtation- Personal
I got the news I was being promoted at work. This was exciting not only for the money, but also the new responibilites I aquried. I even got to particapate in the store opening in Nashville. -
Brother's Birthday- Personal
This day was my brother's 16th birthday. This birthday is important because it was the last birthday party we had with my grandfather. It was also the last real meal he ate in his life. He was so excited to be able to eat ribs.
