  • My Birth

    My Birth

I don't remember my birth, but I heard it was a chaotic day since I put my mom in 9 hours of labor. My parents didn't know my gender due to doctors couldn't figure it out so they were desperate to know. I was born at 5:11 am and came out screaming and kicking which is odd since I'm a quiet/shy person. My mom was scared because I was her first child while my dad was excited since it was his 3rd child and it was a girl. I would have to stay a few days more at the hospital due to having jaundice.
  • Operation

    Operation

When I was little I would constantly be getting sick. Being sick led to me having problems at school. My first grade teacher would be the one to notice that I had hearing problems. It would lead to me going to the doctor and him telling me and my mom I needed to have an operation to remove my tonsils and put tubes in my ears. I remember I was scared about it, but I knew it I needed it. The operation went well, and it took time to heal, but it would help me not to get sick more often and to hear.
  • My Sister's Birth

    My Sister's Birth

My parents wanted another child, but my mom suffered miscarriages so the birth of my sister was a miracle. I remember my dad left my mom at the hospital since she needed to have a labor reduction. Later that day he was helping me with my homework waiting for the call that my mom was in labor. When all of the sudden we got a call not from the hospital, but from my mom who already gave birth. We rushed to the hospital and I saw my sister. My sister is annoying, but I'll protect her no matter what.
  • A Failure At Playing An Instrument.

A Failure At Playing An Instrument.

I wanted to play the violin, but it didn't go exactly as planned. Well first of all, I sent my order form to get a violin and they supposedly never received it. Which led to me just sitting there at lessons not able to play and learn. Weeks later, the teacher told me to rent one. I got it and I tried to catch up by practicing at home and focusing at lessons, but I gave up. I remember we had a concert and I was put near the front and I just played what I could or random notes. I quit after that.
  • Getting My Black Belt

    Getting My Black Belt

I worked a bit over a year to get my black belt in Taekwondo. I practiced and memorized everything I needed to know to get my black belt. I had to complete community hours, train hours with my trainer and prepare for it. Graduation Day went well since I didn't mess up on any requirement and passed. Weeks later there was a tea ceremony where I would get my black belt. I was so committed into Taekwondo because it helped me relieve stress, learn something different and wanted to work hard at it.
  • False Alarm At JFK Airport

    False Alarm At JFK Airport

We were waiting at the baggage check when people told us to drop to the ground. Then they said it was a false alarm. Minutes later people yelled shooter and to drop to the ground. Officers told us to have our hands up and to evacuate. While we waited outside officers screamed bomb and told us to jump off. People were crying/ panicking while I was worried that I wasn't going to Ecuador by myself for the 1st time. We waited hours until it was over. I was exhausted, but my flight wasn't canceled.
  • Funny/Embarrassing Moment in Ecuador

    Funny/Embarrassing Moment in Ecuador

My aunt sent me and my cousin Jenny to sleep upstairs since she said the bed would break if my 2 older cousins slept on it. We were all in bed and all of the sudden BOOM. My cousin Luly who room it was turned on the lights and saw me lying on the floor. The bed broke in half. We started bursting out laughing, my aunt rushed in and my baby cousin Sofia woke up so scared her hair was standing up. We cleaned up and it was so funny everyone who was in the house jokes about it. I'll never forget it.
  • Death Of Someone Close

    Death Of Someone Close

Mirtala was close to us like family. She would help my parents raise me due to my parents working long hours. She would pick me up from school, Taekwondo, camps and more when my parents couldn't. She would take care of me when I was sick, buy me stuff and would take me places like the beach or parks. She was a role model to me and taught me a lot. The night before she died due to cancer she called me to say goodbye and it was so hard for me. I'll never forget her and I'm very thankful for her.
  • My Birthday Trip

    My Birthday Trip

Instead of having a Quinceañera like any other hispanic teenager I wanted to go to Florida. I didn't want a party because I hate having to plan a party and having the spotlight on me at a party. My parents wanted a party, but convinced them no party. We planned it and would spend a week in Florida. I spent time at Disney World, shopping, restaurants, family that lives there and other places. I enjoyed the trip because I bonded with my family, explored and helped me relieve stress from school.
  • Max

    Max

Me and my sister always wanted a dog. My dad wanted us to get one, but my mom was against it since she said it was too much responsibility. Well my dad went against her and we drove 4 hours to get the dog which we would name him Max. Even though Max is the first official pet my family has and is crazy, he taught me to be responsible. For example, taking him to the groomer, taking him out, feeding him and cleaning up after him. Max always makes me laugh and happy even if I'm having a bad day.
  • Getting My Driver's License

    Getting My Driver's License

My dad picked me up 2 hours earlier from school to learn how to parallel park. We later arrived at the test site and my dad got out. The guy came in the car and I was so nervous that I by accidently opened the sunroof and snow leaked in the car. After finishing the road test he gave me an envelope with my results and got out. I opened it and just lost points on failing to observe, but I passed. I went after him to give him the Student Certificate of Completion so I could get my senior license.
