The suez canal was the lifeline of the Britiish Empire and British trade, Initial construction and finance was provided by the french though most of the labor was done by the indidgenous the french funds dried up and the British decided to finish the project and were given 100 years of rule over the canal which allowed goods to be taxed and money to be maid.

King Leopold the second the ruler of Blegium was a small country and needed wealth to help it industrialize. Leopold read about Livingstones writings and found the Congo of great use to Belgium. He arranges a confrence with all the european powers to divide up africa as long as they got the congo. Suprisingly the only power(s) not to attend the confrence were the Africans.

She was the first monarch and queen of Hawaii. After rising to power she wanted to push a new constitution that would increase her power aswell as she denied to give more rights to foriegn businessmen and business intrests so this of course agrivated the econonomy and people and she lost her place and the throne. There was no other haiwian monarch in history from that point on.

Ethoipia was the only nation to keep its independence during the carving and colinization of Africa. This was primarily because of their great and smart leader Menelik the 2nd. When the italians wanted to sign a treaty with the Ethopians he read both translations of the treaties and noticed differences that were not in his favor. The boers (dutch farmers) lived in south africa and were kicked out by the british and told to go up north, though as they went up north the fierce zulus pushed them back down adn the conflict began, it was mostly guerilla warfare and the dutch would fire and then go back and hide in their houses.

By now most of Afric has been colonized, Etheopia remains independent. Europeans have been extracting the raw materials from the continent powering the industrial revolution and their growing powers. Though the africans put up the best fight they could the Europeans who were technologically superior had taken over the country mainly because they had guns and better guns than the africans.
