India Boycotts British Goods
Gandhi sets up a boycott for British goods and taxes. He was promoting local goods in India and didn't want goods that were imported from Britain. -
Gandhi Organizes a tax strike
Gandhi wanted independence for India. He went against a committee. On this committee there weren't any Indian members nd Gandhi didn't like that. At this time Gandhi realized that India should be independent. -
Protest of Salt Act
Gandhi protested against the Salt Act which was when Indians weren't allowed to make their own salt. To make his point he violated the Bristish law and picked up natural salt that was on a beach. Over one thousand protesters and Gandhi were arrested. -
"Quit India" Movement
Gandhi created the "Quit India" movement which was where India tried to get Britain to make India independent. This is when Gandhi had his last nationwide campaign. After this he was arreseted and went to jail. -
Labor Party
After World War II was over the Labor Party governed Britain. They worked on getting India as an independent state. -
Tension between Hindus And Muslims
Hindus and Muslims didn't think they would get equal representation in India. There was a lot of violence and people wanted to divide India into two states. One state that the Muslims controlled and the other that the Hindus controlled. -
India's Independence
India declared independence and it was seperated into two states. India was one of them with mostly Hindu population and the other was Pakistan which was mostly Muslim.
