The Age of Imperialism, beginning around 1760, saw Europeans industrializing nations, influencing, and annexing other parts of the world. I chose to do this timeline because this topic caught my attention when we were talking about imperialism in one of the modules.

Age of New Imperialism
European states established vast empires mainly in Africa, but also Asia and the Middle East. European powers did not usually acquire territory (except for Spain in the Americas and Portugal in Brazil) but rather built a series of trading stations. This event was the climax of imperial territorial disputes between Britain and France in East Africa. A French expedition to Fashoda on the White Nile river sought to gain control of the Upper Nile river and thereby exclude Britain from Sudan.
