  • Learning to swim

    Learning to swim
At age 5 I was taught to swim at my local beach. At the time I hated swimming and thought that I would never use it. Learning to swim was fairly difficult and it took me a while to master it. In my swimming lessons they taught me to float on my back which was surprisingly the hardest part of learning. After learning how to almost float I learned freestyle and breast stroke. It became one of my favorite hobbies and it apparently drove me to learn other things as a result.
  • Learned how to play the recorder

Learned how to play the recorder
In elementary school I was required to learn the recorder for whatever reason. Our music teacher was this old guy with an accordion. I originally thought that the class was extremely boring but after a while of learning the recorder I started to have a lot of fun. My first song was Hot Cross Buns, a classic. This was one of the first hand eye coordination activities that I have ever done and was a big challenge for me when I was younger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp_TmRKhJR0
  • Building my First Computer

    Building my First Computer
I discovered a passion for technology in around middle school. At first I was just a nerd who really liked playing video games but as time went on, I started to actually do something with my life and build a computer myself. Although the main reason was to play more video games it started up another amazing hobby if mine. I actually studied up on different computer components so I could build the perfect computer for me and it turned out amazing. I still use this computer but will make another.
  • Getting Life Guarding license

    Getting Life Guarding license
In my other high school there was an option to take a Life Guard class as an alternative physical education class. Before taking the course we were supposed to take a physical test where we had to swim about 100 laps in the pool freestyle and breast stroke, carry a brick on our chest and swim on our backs, and grab 4 rings scattered at the bottom of the pool. I passed but it was very hard and tiring. I learned how to do CPR and save lives as a result though and ended up getting my license too.
  • 3rd place at state wide Science fair

3rd place at state wide Science fair
In my sophomore year in high school I took a special course where it was all science based. In the course we spent the entire year working on our project. The class was built around a giant state wide science fair at the end of the year and our job was to make a project for it. What my class came up with was a way of lighting up pathways at night. We ordered bioluminescent mushrooms and put them in clear bricks with compost to grow them, we ended up placing third for Sophomores at the event.
  • Moved away

    Moved away
I moved from my old town because my father moved in with his girl friend, I was still going to my old school for about a year until I decided to finally transfer schools because they had more computer science classes. This was a very difficult change to make since I could not see all of the friends I had up until then. I still see them regularly but it is not really the same. I had to re learn social skills to make new friends and it took me a while to get used to the school.
  • Learning to Drive

    Learning to Drive
I took driving lessons at my High School even though I thought that I would never need a car in college, since I was planning on attending one in the city. The driving lessons we had were just people in a car and they would drive for about 30 minutes then we would switch people out. I was very good the first time I drove according to my instructor. I never really drove outside of the class but I drove fine anyways. I learned a lot from that class and as a result I passed the road test.
  • First Game Made

    First Game Made
After learning C# I found a game engine called Unity and downloaded it to start production on my first game. I watched many tutorials on how to use it and spent a lot of time working with it. The game I had planned out was very simple. All I wanted to do was move a character around a map full of enemies that you had to avoid. I had some troubles programming the movement but it all seemed fine, I made it really hard on purpose as well. https://youtu.be/RtODTlr0SRc
  • Learning Programming languages

    Learning Programming languages
After one of my cousins introduced me to the world of programming, I took interest immediately and started taking classes for different languages. I started off learning Java and so I took the Java I class in my junior year of high school. I was very interested in it so I learned C# on my own over the summer that year, this led me to take another class on JavaScript and HTML and I am currently taking that class and enjoying it. If it weren't for these classes I wouldn't know what major in.
  • Learned 2 Languages

    Learned 2 Languages
After learning a lot of spanish in middle school, I found interest in languages and after watching a lot of Japanese films I started learning Japanese and Spanish. I realized that I really enjoy learning languages because it was a big challenge, especially Japanese since it was a completely different alphabet. There is joy in learning a language and its something that everyone should try and do even if it seems too hard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGrBHiuPlT0
